BLUE MAGIC
Blue Magic: Witches and the Ecology of NYC is a documentary photography project looking at connections between witchcraft and environmental stewardship. The project uses cyanotype, an early sun-powered photographic process, as both a medium and a metaphor, blending historical techniques with modern documentation. These will be paired with documentary images and images with witches about climate-responsive work: cultivating medicinal plants adapted to shifting ecosystems, organizing community resilience efforts, and utilizing ritual frameworks to cope with grief, loss, and ecological repair amid environmental crises.
